How do I clean black stuff off of my stove's burners?

I left a pot of boiling water on the stove and forgot about it. The water overflowed and puddled onto the burner where it left a black circle filling the entire burner. I've tried a baking soda paste, cleaning it with soap and water and even goo-gone to try and get the burnt stuff out of there. Does anyone know how to get it out?

Have you tried a Mr. Clean Eraser?
