How do I work my self cleaning oven?

I have a self cleaning oven ... and I'd like to clean it. How do I use it?

It came with my house, we live in Fort Benning on post housing.

There is a handle attached to the door of the oven that says *clean* with an arrow directed to the right.

First of all you can most likely get an instruction manual by going onsite for the vendor. But it's not that difficult. It sounds like you might have a lever control oven. If you do switch it to the clean mode. Your oven will automatically lock and should come up with a screen asking you for the time you wish to clean. Most ovens default to 4 hours but you have the ability to set it for less time. Mine is digital so I just have to push the button and it asks me for a set time. You cannot open the oven until the cleaning cycle is done and you should not leave your home until it is. Remove your grates prior to cleaning. They cannot withstand the extreme heat and will be ruined. After the cleaning is done, you may have to wipe out some powdery residue but that is all.
