Range Pan
do you have to have special pots and pan for a radiant top range?

On glass or ceramic top ranges the cookware must be absolutely flat and smooth on the bottom. There should be not grooves, ridges, or embossed designs. If the pan is not flat it will not conduct the heat from the burner to the food inside and the glass top will overheat. This can cause the temperature limiter on the burner to turn the burner off to protect the glass cooktop from damage.

Darker is better, so pans that are black will absorb the heat best. Cast iron is fine as well. Shiny bottomed pans will refelect some heat back at the heat sensor, cycling it off sooner, delaying cooking time (as mentioned above).
