Does anyone know if 18/10 stainless steel pans come with teflon coating .?
We have a new induction heating cooktop and would like to use telfon coated pans.
I'd guess not; teflon is the cheaper alternative to stainless.
Teflon is now highly suspect as carcinogenic since it flakes off.
Professionals use stainless or cast iron utensils exclusively.
Teflon was accidentally discovered & first used to coat bullets.
Induction Cooking Pans Cook Food Faster
Induction cooktops are the newest thing in cooking. They cook faster and more evenly than any other method of cooking currently available. They use an electromagnetic element in the cooktop. When a pan is placed on top of the burner over the cooktop and the element is turned on it excites the molecules in the pan. This generates heat and does the cooking.
But not every pan can be used on an induction cooktop. It's necessary to have induction cooking pans. Since induction cooking uses magnetism the pans that are used have to be made of a ferric metal. These metals include iron and steel and some alloys. The higher the ferric content the better it will work. There were will be more molecules to move and the food will cook faster. The induction pans also have to have a flat bottom.
When a person upgrades to an induction many of their existing pans may already work. The best way to find out if they do is to place a magnet on each pan. If the magnet sticks than the pan is made of a metal that will work. As long as the pan has a completely flat bottom it will work on a new induction cooktop. Cast iron pans will work very well on a new induction cooktop.
However, to make sure that the pans will work on the cooktop it is better to buy induction cooking pans. These pans are designed to work on induction stoves with no problems.
Most induction pans are made of stainless steel. This is because stainless steel is magnetic. The pans are made of varying quality. The higher the quality the more layers of magnetic stainless steel. Pans that have 5 layers of stainless steel are very good quality.
Induction cooking pans that have more layers cook faster. That's because there are more molecules in the pan to be attracted to the electromagnetic element in the stove. That element attracts the magnetic molecules to the bottom of the pan generating heat. That leaves both the stovetop and the majority of the pan cool. The bottom of the pan will have some heat, but the heat generally goes into the food. The food cooks quicker and more evenly because there aren't any hot spots in the pan because of burners.
The inductions pans can be bought piece by piece or all as one set. They come as skillets, sauce pans, and whatever other pans can be used on a cooktop.
Induction cooktops are the newest, most efficient way to cook. They are greener, and faster. But to use them the cook needs to have induction cooking pans. The properties of the cooktops need to have pans with magnetic properties to work, and induction pans have that.
